Crispy Moong Dal Vada Fried in Freedom Sunflower Oil

INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup Green Moong Dal (whole)
1/4 cup Chana Dal (Bengal gram dal)
1 Onion, finely chopped
2 Green Chillies, finely chopped
1 inch Ginger, grated
2 cloves of garlic, grated
Salt to taste
1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida (hing)
Freedom Refined Sunflower Oil, for deep frying
METHOD
- Soak the green moong dal and chana dal in warm water overnight or for at least 5–6 hours.
- Drain the water completely, then grind the dals with very little water to form a coarse, thick batter.
- Transfer the batter to a bowl. Add chopped onion, green chillies, ginger, garlic, asafoetida, and salt. Mix well and let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Heat Freedom Refined Sunflower Oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
- Once the oil is hot, shape small portions of the batter into balls and carefully drop them into the oil.
- Deep fry on medium heat until the vadas turn golden brown and crispy.
- Remove and place on absorbent paper to drain excess oil.
- Serve warm.
