Kheema Gojju Recipe – A Spicy South Indian Minced Meat Delight
Kheema Gojju is a flavour-packed South Indian delicacy made with minced meat cooked in a rich blend of spices, onions, and aromatic seasonings. Popular in Karnataka households, this hearty dish has a semi-gravy consistency that pairs wonderfully with steamed rice, dosa, chapati, roti, or neer dosa. Every spoonful delivers a delicious balance of spice and savoury flavours, making it a favourite for family meals and special occasions.
Prepared using Freedom Refined Sunflower Oil, Kheema Gojju develops a rich texture while allowing the spices and minced meat to shine through. The light and versatile nature of the oil helps create a perfectly cooked dish that is both flavourful and satisfying.
Ingredients
- 500 g minced mutton (kheema)
- 2 medium onions, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 2 green chillies, slit
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- ½ tsp cumin powder
- ½ tsp garam masala
- Curry leaves, a few
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
- Salt to taste
- 3 tbsp Freedom Refined Sunflower Oil
- Water, as required
Method
Step 1: Wash and drain the minced mutton thoroughly.
Step 2: Heat Freedom Refined Sunflower Oil in a heavy-bottomed pan or pressure cooker.
Step 3: Add curry leaves and chopped onions. Sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
Step 4: Add ginger-garlic paste and green chillies. Cook until the raw aroma disappears.
Step 5: Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well.
Step 6: Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and blend with the masala.
Step 7: Add the minced mutton and sauté for 5–7 minutes until it changes colour and absorbs the spices.
Step 8: Add a little water, cover, and cook until the meat becomes tender. If using a pressure cooker, cook for 3–4 whistles.
Step 9: Once cooked, simmer the mixture until it reaches a thick, semi-gravy consistency.
Step 10: Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
Step 11: Mix well and cook for another minute before switching off the heat.
