Ingredients

For the Potato Filling

  • 3 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • ½ tsp garam masala
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp Freedom Refined Sunflower Oil

For the Bonda

  • 8 bread slices
  • Water, as required
  • Freedom Refined Sunflower Oil, for deep frying

Method

Preparing the Filling

Step 1: Heat 1 tablespoon of Freedom Refined Sunflower Oil in a pan.

Step 2: Add onions, green chillies, and grated ginger. Sauté until the onions become soft.

Step 3: Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt.

Step 4: Add the mashed potatoes and mix well until the spices are evenly incorporated.

Step 5: Stir in fresh coriander leaves and allow the mixture to cool.

Step 6: Divide the mixture into small portions and shape them into round balls.

Preparing the Bread Aloo Bonda

Step 1: Trim the edges of the bread slices.

Step 2: Lightly dip each bread slice in water and gently squeeze out the excess moisture.

Step 3: Place a potato ball in the centre of the bread slice.

Step 4: Carefully wrap the bread around the filling and seal it completely to form a smooth ball.

Step 5: Repeat the process for the remaining bread slices and stuffing.

Frying

Step 1: Heat Freedom Refined Sunflower Oil in a deep frying pan.

Step 2: Carefully add the prepared bondas and fry on medium heat until golden brown and crispy.

Step 3: Remove and drain on absorbent paper.
